No Color
Unfinished, Raw, No coating. Can have remnants of oil rust and scale from forging process. Indoor/Outdoor use. Can create a beautiful aged patina over time but may require oil to prevent rust. Oil from your hands may be adequate but if orange type rust appears from non use, apply any type of wood furniture oil or olive oil and wipe off excess.
New Items can have a silverish finish prior to rusting.
Grey Scale
Finished parts are re-heated to cherry red in the forge to create scale. Can have remnants of oil rust and scale. Can create a beautiful aged dark patina over time but may require oil to prevent rust. Oil from your hands may be adequate but if orange type rust appears from non use, apply any type of wood furniture oil or olive oil and wipe off excess.
Grey scale from forging process. It has No coating, and will rust.
Grey Scale Matte
Grey Scale Beeswax
Grey scale from forging process. Finished parts are re-heated to cherry red in the forge to create scale (grayish blue color).
Matt: Painted with Rust-Oleum brand “Matte Clear Enamel” paint.
Beeswax: Heated and dipped in hot Beeswax.
The two colors are grouped together because they are identical in appearance.
Matte coating is better for outdoor use. The beeswax can wear off over time but allows the item to develop an aged patina.
Oil Rubbed Bronze
Dark brown almost black with red hue and gold metallic flake. Painted with Rust-Oleum brand “Oil Rubbed Bronze” paint.
This is our most popular color. In our opinion, Grey scale beeswax is a good substitute for oil rubbed bronze but a more natural look.
